We keep it simple: fixed prices, fuel included and no boat licence needed. Book online, board at 09:00 and decide for yourself where to fish. That makes hiring a fishing boat on the Westeinderplassen ideal if you don't own a boat or are travelling from further away.

Why the Westeinderplassen

One of the largest lakes in Noord-Holland, 20 minutes from Amsterdam, Haarlem and Hoofddorp. Lots of structure and shelter, and outside the summer season you have the water almost to yourself.

No licence, still safe

You only need to be 18+. Before you leave we explain the boat, the engine and the rules on the water, and hand you a chart. Life jackets are on board.

Fishing the Westeinderplassen

What does a fishing boat cost?

A full fishing day from 09:00 to 17:00 costs €150 per boat — fuel included, plus life jackets and a chart, and no deposit. Want several days in a row? Message us. Book early for weekends in the pike season (October to February).

Fishing day with friends, family or colleagues

With several boats at once you can take a group out — ideal for a friendly competition or a company outing with a difference. Each boat has room for 2 to 3 anglers and all their gear.

VISpas, closed season and catch & release

To fish in the Netherlands you need a VISpas; for the Westeinderplassen check in the VISplanner app that the water is covered by your licence. Pike are always released and from 1 March until the last Saturday of May the closed season for pike applies. Everything in one place on our VISpas & rules page.

Parking, directions and boarding point

You board at Oosteinderweg 75 in Aalsmeer, with free parking at the door. From Amstelveen, Haarlem, Hoofddorp and Amsterdam it is a 15 to 25 minute drive. Arrive a few minutes early so you can load your gear calmly and we can run through the briefing.

First time fishing from a boat? This helps

No stress if you haven't fished from a boat much. A few simple tips get you off to a good start:

  • Start on the sheltered side when it's windy and work the reed beds slowly.
  • Cut the engine before you reach the spot; drift the last few metres.
  • Bring a good unhooking mat, pliers and a tape measure — pike always go back.
  • Dress in layers; on the water it is colder in autumn than on the bank.
